Parents usually don't know that children need to "learn" good vision. The eyes, optical nerves and brain are there but the interaction needs to be trained in much the same way we learn to speak and walk. While parents are able to observe progress in speaking and walking, what a child sees remains unknown. In the first years of life, vision disorders can prevent appropriate development of vision and may lead to Amblyopia, i.e. a lazy eye. Amblyopia is a life long vision impairment that cannot be treated after childhood. Only through early detection and treatment of these vision disorders, can Amblyopia be prevented.
Founded in 2001 in Nuremberg, Germany, our company specializes in development, manufacturing and distribution of medical devices to fight Amblyopia. Plusoptix devices detect vision disorders in children, provide full refraction information during eye exams and help in researching the functioning of the eye.
All Plusoptix devices share a unique measurement technology, sometimes referred to as "Photorefraction". For specific applications, three devices are available:
• Binocular Autorefractor:
For eye care professionals to measure refraction
• Vision Screener:
For all primary health care providers and vision screening programs
• Accommodation Meter:
For scientists interested in accommodation research
