Plusoptix Binocular Autorefractors provide a reliable baseline refraction in the context of entry exams or pretests, assessing values for sphere, cylinder, axis, pupil diameters, pupil distance and gaze asymmetry.

Not only will it help to identify false-positive referrals but also to have a starting point for a comprehensive examination. Contact us to learn more!

How does a Plusoptix Binocular Autorefractor work?

All Plusopix Binocular Autorefractors feature an easy one-button operation. The measurement is performed from 1 m (3.3 ft) and takes mere seconds. A doctor is not needed to perform the measurement. Save time and let your assistant perform the measurement.

The Plusoptix measurement principle is based on transillumination testing. Unlike other transillumination tests (e.g. Red Reflex test), Plusoptix Binocular Autorefractors avoid glare of the patient, by using infrared light. The pupils remain large, even without dilation. This allows a better examination of your pediatric patients.

If a cycloplegic retinoscopy is required, the baseline refraction provides a valuable starting point for myopia, astigmatism and axis measurements. Performing a measurement in dilation with the respective baseline refraction at hand is quick, easy and saves precious chair time.

Your advantages

Outstanding accuracy

A Plusoptix Binocular Autorefractor is as accurate as a retinoscopy in un-dilated eyes. To determine if spherical results are biased by accommodation, perform a second measurement over +3 diopter glasses.

The effect is comparable to “fogging” and helps to decide whether a measurement in dilation is needed immediately or not. Contact us if you need more information about measurements in dilation.

Zoom-in for enhanced transillumination and cataract detection

The all new zoom-in feature helps identify cataracts, other media opacities and abnormal retinal reflexes evident on-screen of any Plusoptix Binocular Autorefractor. No rush – pupil pictures remain on-screen as long as you need them for your examination!
