Measurement & Documentation

  1. Can dark eyes be measured?
The answer is: yes! Because all Plusoptix devices use the measurement principle of the transillumination test. In a transillumination test, a beam of infrared light is projected into the eye and reflected by the retina. Because the eyes are always visible in infrared light, skin or eye colors will not affect the measurement.

  2. How can measurement results be documented?
A seamless integration of the new equipment in the existing workflow is crucial. Therefore, Plusoptix offers various documentation options to choose from. The measurement results can be documented electronically or on paper. Click here, to learn more about the compatibility of our measuring devices.

  3. How can measurement results be printed?
Plusoptix offers various printing options to choose from. You can print self-adhesive labels on the wireless IR label printer plusoptiX P12 or a screening report on any network or mobile USB printer. For more information, refer to our online short manual about "Printing the measurement results on paper":
"Short manual 7 - Printing measurement results on paper" for Vision Screeners
"Short manual 7 - Printing measurement results on paper" for Binocular Autorefractors

  4. How can I set up a electronic full integration (CSV connection)?
If an EMR system is already available, the patient data can be sent to the Plusoptix measuring device before the screening. Once the screening is complete, the measurement results can be sent immediately and automatically from the measuring device to the EMR system. Plusoptix incurs no additional costs for the connection. However, the practice software provider may incur costs for the connection. Click here to learn more in our CSV file based interface description.

  5. Electronic partial integration (PDF)
If a full electronic integration is not desired or feasible, the measurement results can first be saved as a PDF file and then manually added to the EMR system. Click here to learn more in our short manual for documenting measurement results electronically:
"Short manual 6 - Documenting measurement results electronically" for Vision Screeners
"Short manual 6 - Documenting measurement results electronically" for Binocular Autorefractors.

SD card

  1. What SD card can be used?
We recommend a „SDHC“ card with 2 to 8 gigabyte storage. The card label must say "SDHC". If you are going to use ones from your camera, they must be formatted in your computer first. The proper format is "FAT 32" for the SD card size."FAT" stands for file allocation table.

  2. Does the SD card need maintenance?
It is always a good idea to reformat an SD card every couple of months. It makes sure that the electronic storage structure is intact and in good health. Your Plusoptix device does not need to be maintained or calibrated.

  3. How much measurement reports can be stored on the delivered SD card?
Each gigabyte of storage will hold approximately 2300 measurement reports. And they can be erased if the card ever gets close to full.

  4. What can I do when the SD card storage is full?
The device does not automatically overwrite or erase the measurement reports. You can do that using your computer. Simply connect the SD card to your computer and shift or delete data that you don’t need anymore. To delete the whole data on the SD card, you can also format it. The proper format is "FAT 32" for the SD card size. "FAT" stands for file allocation table.

USB sticks

  1. What USB stick can be used?
We recommend a „USB 2.0 or 2.1“ stick with 2 to 8 gigabyte storage and a Standard-A USB plug. The proper format is "fat 32" for the SD card size."FAT" stands for file allocation table. Sometimes these drives are formated as "exfat", which will then reformated by our device as "fat32".

  2. Does the USB stick need maintenance?
It is always a good idea to reformat an USB stick every couple of months. It makes sure that the electronic storage structure is intact and in good health. Your Plusoptix device does not need to be maintained or calibrated.

  3. How much measurement reports can be stored on the delivered USB stick?
Each gigabyte of storage will hold approximately 2300 measurement reports. And they can be erased if the card ever gets close to full.

  4. What can I do when the USB stick storage is full?
The device does not automatically erase the measurement reports. You can do that using your computer. Simply connect the USB stick to your computer and delete data that you don’t need anymore. To delete the whole data on the USB stick, you can also format it. The proper format is "FAT 32" for the SD card size. "FAT" stands for file allocation table.

Wireless IR label printer (plusoptiX P12)

  1. Why is the script on the label light or spotted?
The plusoptiX P12 printer needs to be connected to the mains or the rechargeable batteries have to be exchanged.

  2. Why is the print incomplete?
If the infrared transmission is interrupted while printing, the print-out of the label is incomplete. To obtain a complete print-out, simply print the label again.
